The Artist Behind the Chaos
Delayna Robbins aka A Colorful Chaos is a freelance painter and illustrator from North Carolina.
Her work is often described as spiritual, cosmic and thought provoking. Although she has achieved a Graphic Design degree, she instead specializes in painting surrealistic themes to tell stories; particularly people of color. Adding symbolism to her works, her messages in her art range from self healing, divine love, and self acceptance. To accomplish this, she interviews people on what makes them feel empowered and loved and reflects this throughout her work.
Delayna has worn many hats during her freelancing career, running her own online store, painting murals, illustrating childrens’ books, selling her art, gaining a following on youtube and designing various small business brands.
Artist Statement
Creating art has always been a tool to help in my own healing journey and expression therefore, in order to help others I center my art around spirituality and growth. Using elements in nature, ethereal symbolism, and vivid colors I crafted my own story through my paintings. My goal is for my work to be a reflection of that on a larger scale. I use surrealism and the art of storytelling to capture the perspective of people of color to spark conversations and create bonds. I use my art to influence people from the community to ask questions like what makes them feel empowered and loved? Although my art is targeted to people of color, I want to evoke empathy from everyone and make connections. This is my small contribution towards generational healing from traumas, unifying the divided, overall growth, and understanding within the community inside and out.
